The Opinionated Foodie: The Love (or Not) of Food and Everything That Goes with It

Dear Cadbury Creme Egg Makers:

You know I love you, right? I have professed that love over and over every year at Easter.  You make one of my favorite candies of all time-the Cadbury Creme Egg.

You remember that time you sales peaked so much in the 90’s? That was me.  I discovered your product way back then when I was in high school, and I was hooked.  I loved them so much that my parents bought me some of your eggs.  From Sam’s.  By the case. Which I ate mostly by myself.

It is not as sad as it sounds.  I could eat a lot back then.

I have loved the CCE ever since.  I love the thick brown chocolate that wraps around the creamy white sugary center.  The best part, however, is the surprise yellow creamy yolk.  How clever that is every time I find it! It is truly a food engineering marvel.

Your eggs are just a wonder.  These days, they make me happy every time I find one in some random place where I have hidden one.   I don’t share very well, so my eggs are placed in safe keeping in the laundry room or my sock drawer.  I usually forget they are even there, and then when I find one-excitement!  It makes my day.

Now, you have made this girl happy again by introducing your Halloween Scream Eggs.  Genius.  It is every bit as yummy with its creepy yet yummy green yolk.  How smart.

Now, Cadbury, let’s get to the point.  What holiday are you going to add to your egg lineup? I mean, really, if one is not enough why not go ahead and include the egg somehow in all the holidays?

A valentine egg, maybe? Nothing says love like an egg.

A 4th of July egg? Red shell, white cream. blue yolk?

Mother’s Day egg? The symbolism is not lost there, ya know.

Hanukkah? St. Patrick’s? Thanksgiving? Veteran’s Day is Monday.  You could still do it!

I believe in you, Cadbury Cream Egg Maker.  You have made this girl’s candy dream come true.  Now expand on that thought while I watch my rear end expand as I eat all your candy.

It’ll be worth it .
